With over 90 years of history, the University of the Armed Forces ESPE is considered one of the most emblematic of the country for its constant innovation and contribution to the productive development of Ecuador. Founded in 1922, the University is distinguished by delivering practical solutions to the needs and concerns of Ecuadorian society, contributing to the generation of new knowledge through teaching, research and relationship with society. In 2014, it was cataloged by the prestigious QS World University Ranking among the 250 best in Latin America and the fourth best of Ecuador. Currently, our university chairs the REDU (Network of Universities and Polytechnics Research and Graduate Studies) consists of more than 20 Ecuadorian universities. The University is part of the Higher Education System of Ecuador, consisting of the parent campus in Sangolquí, the Latacunga and Santo Domingo headquarters of the Tsáchilas and the Academic Units and Special Language Institute; It has more than 13,000 students, including civilians and military, of them 8,309 are men and 5,606 are women. It is a center of public higher education regulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador and the Organic Law on Higher Education. After the signing of the Statute of creation, June 26, 2013, and approved by the Council on Higher Education (CES).
